Andre Onana insists he and his team-mates can adapt to new boss Ruben Amorim.
Amorim, , prefers a 3-4-3 formation with wing-backs and no No 10, which could spell trouble for playmaker . But Onana insists the United players are versatile enough to adjust to any formation changes he makes.
Onana was impressed by Sporting’s thumping 4-1 win over on Tuesday and said: “I did watch it. It was a great victory for them.
“It’s a different system, but my team-mates, we’re all pragmatic. Everyone here is capable of playing in each system. I don’t think it will be an issue for us. We have big players and they will step up.”

Onana spent nearly five years under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and admits the Dutchman “paid the price” at United for poor results. United have made their worst start to a season since 1986 when Ron Atkinson was sacked and the Cameroon goalkeeper said: “When I heard he was leaving, obviously I felt bad.
“It’s not always easy for players to understand why a manager is leaving. At the end of the day, the club makes a decision and we have to follow. Yes, I worked with him, he’s a good manager, I’ve got a very good relationship with him.
“Why things didn’t work here? We didn’t win enough games, it’s simple. At this high level it’s not easy and sometimes you have to pay the price. We worked hard, tried everything and did our best, but it didn’t work.”
Caretaker boss Ruud van Nistelrooy takes charge of his penultimate match against PAOK at Old Trafford in the on Thursday and he is still in the dark over his future. Van Nistelrooy, who was ten Hag’s assistant, wants to work under Amorim and says he does not know when they will speak.
“No, I didn’t have contact so far, no change on that,” he said. “I don’t know when yet either.” Van Nistelrooy, who welcomed back Leny Yoro to training on Wednesday for the first time since the teenage French defender fractured his metatarsal in pre-season, also backed Rasmus Hojlund to score more goals.

Hojlund, 21, has just two in 10 appearances this season and van Nistelrooy is confident the Denmark striker’s hard work will pay off. “He needs to stay calm and believe in himself, believe in his qualities like I do, like his teammates do,” he said.
“He knows he’s young, he’s promising. It’s daily work, which he’s putting in which will pay off, not only for him, but also for his team-mates. I’m confident of that. He’s a guy who can change a game in a second, like he did on Sunday when he won the penalty against .”
