However, recent weeks have seen reports from Germany state that Sane is close to agreeing a new contract with Bayern to extend his stay in Munich. Now, though, a free update has emerged about the forward's future which concerns Arsenal.
Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed a new contract for Sane at Bayern is no longer a certainty due to the player recently hiring new representatives.
The report states that negotiations between Bayern and Sane are now "open" once again, with the player's departure on a free transfer now a possibility once again.
As a result, Arsenal are mentioned as still having an interest in signing Sane as a free agent when his current deal expires, if an agreement cannot be reached.
Sane has scored 13 goals with five assists for Bayern this season and helped the club win yet another Bundesliga title.
The Germany international scored what he thought was the winning goal against RB Leipzig on Saturday, before Bayern conceded a stoppage-time equaliser in a 3-3 draw to put their title celebrations on hold before Bayer Leverkusen's draw with Freiburg on Sunday.
It remains to be seen if Arsenal will pursue a deal to sign Sane, with the left wing position an area of the squad which has seen plenty of transfer speculation over the last few weeks.
