Strictly's Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell addressed furious fans' claims that they had been undermarked over the weekend.

The comedian, 47, who is the show's first blind contestant, performed a salsa to Down Under by Men At Work with pro dancer Dianne, 35, on Saturday night.

However, despite judge Craig Revel Horwood telling the couple: "I thought it was bonza" – an Australian word that can mean excellent or great, he only scored the duo six, prompting boos from the audience. Meanwhile, the rest of the judges - Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and - awarded the duo eight points, giving them a total of 30.

Appearing on Tuesday's Strictly spin-off, It Takes Two, host Fleur East asked the duo: "The support for you guys online is very apparent" as she read out a comment from a fan on social media which said: "Under marked!!!! My God, it's inspirational and brings tears to my eyes every week. They need to win x."

Fleur then asked: "Dianne, what did you make of Craig's score?" to which the professional dancer replied: "I screamed for excitement with the six. Do you know what it is for me, I always think because it felt so good, I honestly said to Chris hand on heart if we had got a four or a three from Craig I still would have been happy."

However, Chris was quick to tease Dianne as he mouthed: "No, she wouldn't! This is absolute rubbish!" to which Dianne continued: "No, honestly, I swear to you I would have! Chris, listen to me!

"Because if it didn't feel good, then I would be upset! But because it felt so good and I was so happy with how we did it, for me, the feeling is worth more than any score."

To which Chris hilariously responded again, teasing Dianne: "No, listen, I know I said having the kangaroo jumps was more important than the first tens, right? But a six or a seven is definitely more important than feeling good!"

It comes as viewers were left furious over the duo's six score on the weekend, arguing it should have been higher. At the time, one viewer said on , now X: "Chris McCausland undermarked there. #Strictly!", a different account wrote: "Is Craig actually having a laugh Chris and Diane’s dance was unreal the salsa a 6 omg like #strictly."

Another person said: "Why did Craig just give Chris a 6? Are you serious? #Strictly?" and added a different account: "Craig calling Chris’ dance ‘bonza’ and then scoring it a 6?!!!! #Strictly."

It Takes Two continues on weeknights at 6:30pm on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
