Chelseahave entered the race to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, it has been claimed. Enzo Maresca's side have spent around £243million so far this summer, and are closing in on the blockbuster addition of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, but the Blues are not expected to stop there.
Rodrygo has emerged as a surprise target for the Blues, despite the arrival of Jamie Gittens from German giants Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer. Real Madrid are expected to allow the 24-year-old to leave, for the right price, having fallen down the pecking order at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu.
Indeed, the Brazilian started just one of their six matches at the Club World Cup, and he was an unused substitute during their semi-final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. With Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior ahead of him, he also faces competition from Endrick, Arda Guler and Gonzalo Garcia in attack.

Reports this week have suggested that Rodrygo has now decided to remain at Real Madrid and fight for a spot in Xabi Alonso's side. However,Marca have since claimed that Rodrygo's future could lie elsewhere, with Tottenham making a bid, Liverpool lining him up as an Alexander Isak back-up and Chelsea entering the race.
Marca said: "Given this situation, Madrid has already received contact from several intermediaries exploring the player's asking price for top European teams.
"In fact, agents close to Tottenham claim that the London club has already offered Real Madrid an initial price, awaiting a response. The English club released one of its flagship players, South Korea's Son, this summer and is looking for a key player who can help them return to the top-flight of the Premier League and to compete in the Champions League. The Brazilian has no shortage of experience and goals."
They added that Tottenham are joined by reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, who have considered Rodrygo as a wildcard if talks with Newcastle United for Isak go sour. For the Reds, signing Rodrygo would be the 'icing on the cake' of a 'tremendous team with clear aspirations to win it all', and that is something the player values high.
Marca then finish to say that Chelsea are 'another candidate' for Rodrygo. It's added that the Real man would 'take them to another level' following their FIFA Club World Cup triumph. It's unclear at this stage whether the Blues are prepared to make an opening offer for the former Santos forward.
While more players are expected to arrive through the Stamford Bridge doors, Chelsea continue to sell and offload stars, too. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka and Armando Broja are all set to leave the Blues on permanent deals, while Nicolas Jackson could be the next to depart.
football.london understand that although Chelsea have maintained that the Senegal international is not for sale, rumours have been consistent about where he will be playing next season.
Manchester United are one of the teams linked with a swoop as they search for another striker to bolster their attacking line, but they could be making a decisive move for Benjamin Sesko. There have also been links to clubs around Europe, and Newcastle could also be an option if they miss out in the race for Sesko.
The Athleticreport that the Blues are now open to allowing the 24-year-old to leave - although it could well be dependent on moves elsewhere in the window.
