Always remember to be kind. This is the message one woman has shared after an incident in a bakery involving a birthday cake proved that you just don't know enough about strangers to make judgements.
The woman, named Lisa, took to to recount her recent visit to the bakery section of a supermarket in the US. She was getting a sheet and asked an employee behind the counter if they'd be able to write a message on the top of it for her friend Mandy. The member of staff agreed and took the cake to add the message, when she handed it back, on top of the white icing was a rather messy-looking birthday wish. But the woman thanked her and went to pay for the item, without looking at the cake.

In her post, she explains that when she realised, she decided that "it didn't really matter" that the writing looked "bad" and instead she thought it would just amuse anyone who saw the cake. However, when she went to pay for it, staff at the checkout didn't find the situation quite as funny.
She explained: "The cashiers at the self-checkout didn't think it was so funny though, and called a few more cashiers and a manager over to look, even taking pictures. To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said 'the girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her - even though she's not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.'"
Lisa went on to add: "So I guess the moral of the story is that kindness is important." Alongside the post she uploaded a snap of the birthday cake and it has since gone viral garnering over and thousands of comments. Many people were quick to praise her for the way she reacted with one branding her response "beautiful", while a second said it "restored" their faith in humanity.
Someone else said: "Very sweet. Written with a lot more love and care than someone who does it just for the paycheck." Another agreed, saying: "So many layers to this simple story, and shows how common daily transactions can play out. at the end there was a deeper understanding and beautiful lesson of kindness. Thank you for sharing." A different user added: "This has given me goose pimples, what a wonderful thing to do even though you didn't know she had a hidden disability. I hope someone shows the same kindness to my son as he grows up."
