Israel will hit Iranian military sites in its forthcoming revenge attack, it has been claimed.
But officials have told the US they do not foresee strikes on Tehran’s nuclear sites or oil plants, reports say. Prime Minister apparently said warplanes will go in before the US election on November 5.
It is also believed the blitz will be the first in a “series of reactions” to Iran’s 200-strong missile strike on the Jewish state on October 1.
The assault plans emerged as Washington issued its strongest warning yet to over its Gaza offensive. The letter gives Mr Netanyahu 30 days to boost urgent humanitarian aid access to the Strip or face having some US military assistance cut off.
But it did not stop the Americans arriving with a top-of-the-range anti-ballistic missile system in Israel, along with troops to operate it.
The Terminal High-Altitude Air Defence system has been deployed in case Tehran unleashes another attack in reply to one by Israel. But it is widely thought its installation, which controversially means US troops are now in Israel helping to defend it, could bring the onslaught forward.
Iran has already warned against Washington having boots on the ground in Israel. The arrival comes amid bitter fighting in Lebanon and Gaza, where at least 15 people died overnight, including six children and two women, according to Palestinian officials.
More than 400,000 children are among 1.2million people displaced in Lebanon in the past three weeks, a top UN children’s agency official said.
Unicef’s Ted Chaiban added: “The last thing this country needs, in addition to everything else it has gone through, is the risk of a lost generation.”
Israel increasingly fears a major terror attack in cities such as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, where security has been heightened because of the threat.
One person died yesterday after a terrorist gunman opened fire in Yavne, south of Tel Aviv, leaving four others wounded. The assailant was also killed.
The Air Force has smashed 200 Hezbollah targets in 24 hours, including anti-tank posts, terror cells and missile launch sites.
But it is also desperately trying to hunt down Hezbollah’s drone positions after Sunday’s attack on an Israeli base in Binyamina killed four and injured 60.
In Gaza, the IDF infantry hit a terror cell in Jabaliya after coming under fire from anti-tank missiles.
But a strike early yesterday hit a house in the southern town of Beni Suhaila, killing at least 10 from one extended family, according to Nasser Hospital in nearby Khan Younis.
The dead included three children and one woman. And in nearby town Fakhari, a strike hit a house, killing five people, including three children and a woman.
