Max Verstappen gets advice from dad as F1 star admits to getting stepdaughter in trouble

Max Verstappen got a ticking off from his dad after his stepdaughter mimicked his swearing.

The three-time champion is regularly heard using colourful language on the team radio airwaves, especially when are up against it. And his expletive outbursts - which recently - aren't confined to the racetrack.

One of 's favourite pastimes is . He discussed the passion on Viaplay's documentary Off the Beaten Track, which is now available to stream in the UK.

And he recalled a moment involving partner Kelly Piquet's daughter Penelope while speaking to Jos. "It's a release for me. I get to curse all I want," admitted Verstappen when asked about his love for Call of Duty.

"But you know what's happening now? Grandma was visiting us in Monaco. She was in the kitchen with Penelope. Suddenly the cats start acting crazy.

"And Penelope goes 'What the f***' are the cats doing?'. Grandma looked at her like 'What did you just say?'. She heard me say that, of course. 'What the f*** are the cats doing?'."

While Jos raised a wry smile, he was quick to offer out some fatherly advice. "You need to watch your language around her," he said, with Verstappen responding with a knowing "yeah".

Verstappen has been in a relationship with Kelly, daughter of ex-F1 driver Nelson, since January 2021. Before that Kelly dated another F1 driver Daniil Kvyat, with whom she welcomed Penelope in July 2019.

The five-year-old is regularly seen in the background of Verstappen's gaming live streams. And when Kelly's in the paddock to support her boyfriend, Penelope is often with her.

Verstappen has made it clear that he's not trying to take over Kvyat's role as her dad. Speaking to TIME, he said: "I'm not the father, that's not the aim.

"It's always very important that she has a good relationship with her own father, which she has. But I see her every day when I'm at home. We get on very well. She's very cute."
