A lottery player has missed the boat on a £1m fortune after failing to claim their EuroMillions prize in time.
The National Lottery confirmed that the winning UK Millionaire Maker ticket was purchased in Rhondda Cynon Taf in Wales on April 16, but the lucky winner didn't come forward before the 180-day deadline expired on Sunday.
Despite calls for players to recheck their tickets for the winning code, nobody claimed the life-changing sum. Andy Carter, The National Lottery's senior winners’ adviser, said: "Unfortunately, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward within the deadline to claim their prize and has now sadly missed out on this substantial amount of money."
"However, the money will now add to the £30m raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects." Although the winner ticket was not claimed, Rhondda Cynon Taf has seen the upside of lottery funding with various community projects being awarded money, like the Rhondda Hearing Impaired Support Group which received a £18,025 grant in May.
The Nation Lottery says big winners need to log into their National Lottery account and then call the National Lottery Line on 0333 234 50 50 in order to make their claim. Ticket holders should check their paper tickets, either in store or scan the tickets via the National Lottery app, then also call the National Lottery Line and make their claim.
