Wrexham ruthlessly trolled by minnows Harrogate after crashing out of FA Cup in first round

Harrogate pulled off an FA Cup upset as the Sky Bet League Two side beat Wrexham 1-0 - and the Yorkshire side were quick to poke fun at the Hollywood-owned club.

Jack Muldoon scored the only goal of the game with a glancing header midway through the first half and League One high-fliers Wrexham struggled to create clear-cut chances to equalise.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said: "We dominated the first early exchanges. I thought our approach play was really good, but we lacked conviction in our crossing and our finishing to get that goal.

"Then we've conceded a goal from a set play, which gave a team who are good at hanging in there - that's what they do - they did it at our place last year; they're a backs-to-the-wall type team, and we gave them something to hang on to."

Harrogate were quick to mock Wrexham on their /X account, quote tweeting a fan's tweet declaring that 'the dragon is coming' with a rather ragged looking Welsh dragon.

League One leaders Birmingham avoided the same fate with a 1-0 win at non-league Sutton, with Willum Willumsson scoring the decisive goal in the first half.

Ethan Galbraith converted the decisive spot-kick for the visitors after Tom Whelan, Chris Bush and Junior Dixon had all failed with their attempts.

Orient, who had defender Jayden Sweeney sent off in extra time, had led 2-0 through goals from Sonny Perkins and Dan Agyei, but the home side roared back with goals from Tyrone Marsh and Charlie O’Connell.
