Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], October 20 (ANI): Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam dismissed claims on Sunday that his son and former MP P Ravindranath is joining Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), the party of actor-turned-politician Vijay.
"Former MP P Ravindhranath is going to join actor Vijay's party is false information," Panneerselvam told ANI.
Earlier, on August 22, when TVK chief Vijay unveiled the party's flag, Ravindranath had congratulated him on beginning his political journey.
"Heartfelt congratulations to the leading actor of Tamil film industry, President of Tamil Nadu Victory Association and beloved brother Mr.Vijay for launching his party's flag in his political journey and I convey my heartiest wishes for the success of his political journey and the success of the work of the people," read Ravindranath's post from that day.

This led to speculation that the former MP might be joining TVK.
In a press statement released in Tamil, the star actor said, "It is a great blessing if every day brings a new direction and a new force in history. August 22, 2024, is the day that God and nature have given us as such a blessing. It is the day when the flag, the main symbol of our Tamil Nadu Victory Club, will be introduced."

"Working for the welfare of Tamil Nadu, we will introduce our heroic flag, the victory flag, which will become the symbol of our state, tomorrow at our headquarters. We will also release the association flag song. I am pleased to announce that we are hoisting the club flag," the release added.
The party is set to hold its first state conference on October 27.
Actor Vijay entered into politics and announced the name of his party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazham, in February this year.
