Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 21 (ANI): At least four people died and 20 others sustained injuries after a pick-up van carrying 'Baraatis' overturned in Madhya Pradesh's Shahdol district on Monday evening, a police official said.
The accident occurred near the Karondiya-Gada Road in the Devolond police station area of the district at around 5 pm. After receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and admitted the injured to the nearest hospital.
Among the injured, six people sustained severe injuries and were referred to Rewa Medical College for further treatment, the police added.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abhishek Diwan, told ANI, "A baraat reached Karaundiya village in Shahdol district from Sidhi's Majhauli and during the time of return to Sidhi, a pick-up vehicle overturned while trying to save a bike moving ahead. Four people died on the spot, and around 20 people sustained injuries in the accident. Six among the injured sustained severe injuries and were referred to Rewa Medical College."
Upon receiving the information, the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the District Collector also reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Further investigation into the matter is underway. (ANI)
