PSL 2025, Match 8 Review: Karachi Kings cruise to 56-run win as Vince, Nabi shine against Quetta Gladiators

The Match No.8 of the in Karachi was a one-sided contest as Karachi Kings outperformed Quetta Gladiators by 56 runs. The game began solidly for both sides, but it was James Vince’s 70 and the Kings' clinical bowling efforts that put them on the winning side.

Opting to bat first, the David Warner-led side got off to a flying start. The opening pair of Tim Seifert and Warner took the score to 60 in just 5.4 overs. However, Quetta bounced back as Abrar Ahmed outfoxed Warner, and Saud Shakeel cleaned up Seifert.

At 108/4 by the end of the 14th over, momentum was towards the Gladiators. But Vince ensured Karachi finished with a strong total. The Englishman counterattacked alongside Mohammad Nabi. Together, they smashed 67 runs in the final six overs to take the Kings to 175/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

The chase began poorly for Quetta as Mir Hamza made an impact with a slower ball to remove Finn Allen, and Hasan Nawaz departed for just 1, nicking off to a sharp slip catch by Khushdil Shah. Later, Nabi removed Kusal Mendis and Rilee Rossouw. The Afghan all-rounder finished with figures of 2 for 7 in his quota of four overs.

Quetta’s captain, Saud Shakeel, opening the innings, struggled to keep up with the required rate as he remained unbeaten on 33 off 40 balls. Mohammad Amir added 30 off 16 at No.9, but it was too late. Hasan Ali cleaned up the tail, taking three wickets, while Abbas Afridi and Aamer Jamal chipped in to wrap up the innings at 119/9. Meanwhile, Vince earned his second Player of the Match award of the season and helped his side to get those two crucial points and sit in the third spot in the table.
