After attack on Qatar, Iran on Monday launched missiles at the Ain al-Assad airbase in western Iraq, which houses U.S. troops, an Iraqi security official told The Associated Press on Monday.
Several missiles were fired at the base, though there was no immediate word on casualties or damage, AP reported citing an official.
However, a military official told Reuters that no other US bases other than Qatar were attacked.
The strike on Qatar and reportedly on Iraq comes amid escalating regional tensions following the recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites and Tehran's threats of retaliation.
Ain al-Assad has been previously targeted in past confrontations between Iran and the United States, notably after the killing of Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
This development follows Qatar’s temporary closure of its airspace and rising security alerts across the Gulf region, as fears grow over a broader regional conflict involving Iran, Israel, and U.S. forces deployed in the Middle East. Iran is said to have fired six missiles on the Al-Udeid Air Base in Doha.

Meanwhile, the State of Qatar has strongly condemned the missile attack launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Al-Udeid Air Base, home to U.S. and coalition forces.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the strike a “flagrant violation” of the country’s sovereignty and international law, and confirmed that its air defenses successfully intercepted the incoming missiles.
In an official statement issued by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed Al Ansari, Qatar warned that it “reserves the right to respond directly in a manner equivalent with the nature and scale of this brazen aggression, in line with international law.”
