Renowned television actor Eijaz Khan, celebrated for his dynamic roles on the small screen, has experienced a personal life as intense as his on-screen performances. Born in Hyderabad, Eijaz spent most of his childhood in Mumbai. His early years were marked by turbulence when his parents separated when he was just three years old. In an interview with SCREEN, Eijaz once reflected on how the split forced him to mature early, crediting his father for shaping his personality. His father, he said, was both progressive and deeply spiritual, ensuring that his children grew up disciplined yet open-minded.
Tragedy struck during Eijaz’s school days when he lost his mother. It was after her passing that he discovered he had a sister living in Hyderabad. Thirteen years passed before he finally met her, but once reunited, he took on the role of a protective elder brother with deep affection. Eijaz even ensured that his sister’s marriage was well-settled, displaying his sense of responsibility and devotion toward family despite his own emotional hardships.
Stepping into the World of Performance
Eijaz’s professional journey began with dance. He joined the popular choreographer Ganesh Hegde’s troupe, which opened doors for him to travel across the globe for several years. At just 23, he became a background dancer and had the opportunity to work closely with Bollywood stars, including Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. As one of the principal dancers in the troupe, he enjoyed an enriching experience sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in Indian cinema.
From Dancer to Actor
In 2002, Eijaz’s life took a significant turn when Sohail Khan offered him a role in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya. However, during the shoot, he suffered two major shoulder injuries that required surgeries and an extended period of rehabilitation, sidelining him from work for nearly three years. His determination remained unbroken, and he returned stronger in 2003, appearing in a song with Aishwarya Rai titled Tuje Aaj Main Ne Jo Dekha. The performance caught the attention of many, including Balaji Telefilms, one of the biggest production houses in the TV industry.
Eijaz soon met with Ekta Kapoor, who immediately recognized his potential. Within minutes of their first meeting, she offered him a three-year exclusive contract, as reported by SCREEN. This collaboration became a turning point in his career. His role in the hit television drama Kavyanjali, opposite Anita Hassanandani, made him a household name and solidified his place as a leading actor in Indian television.
Transition to Films and Professional Setbacks
By 2007, Eijaz decided to step away from television to pursue opportunities in cinema. He signed three films, including one with director Dharmesh Darshan, but faced several setbacks. One film never saw the light of day, while another was delayed for two years before its release. Just when Eijaz began to find his footing in films, he was cast in Tanu Weds Manu, which was expected to be his big break.
However, personal turmoil struck again. While promoting the film, he became entangled in a legal case when a woman he had been in a relationship with accused him of rape after he tried to end things. On ZeeTV’s talk show JuzzBaatt, Eijaz revealed that the situation spiraled out of control and took a severe toll on his mental and financial well-being. He described having to leave Mumbai for months, struggling to survive by doing menial jobs, and losing his home and pets in the process.
"It was a tough phase, and I had to wash the utensils so that I could buy food. I never thought I would come out of it. She took my house, my dogs, and everything," he recalled.
In another conversation with SCREEN, he admitted to staying underground for six months before the complaint was eventually withdrawn, as confirmed by The Times of India.
Resilience and Recent Work
Despite the dark chapters, Eijaz Khan fought his way back with quiet resilience. Over time, he reestablished himself in the entertainment industry with steady performances. Most recently, he appeared in the romantic comedy Dhoom Dhaam alongside Pratik Gandhi and Yami Gautam and also played a part in the blockbuster Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara.
