Simi Garewal recently came out in defense of Abhishek Bachchan. For the unversed, the ‘Dhoom’ star has been in the news recently due to several rumours of him parting ways with his wife, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The couple has often been spotted without their wedding rings at several events. Moreover, the actor was also linked to his ‘ Dasvi’ co-star Nimrat Kaur.
The talk show host took to Instagram on Sunday and shared a clip from an old interview with the ‘Paa’ star where he was seen sharing his views towards commitment and marital fidelity. In the video, Abhishek made a firm stance on being a one-woman man and reaffirmed the importance of being loyal.
“Call me old-fashioned, but I have nothing against being frivolous. I have nothing against people wanting to have fun with both of the constants; then, by all means, enjoy yourselves. But if you have committed to somebody on whatever level, then abide by that commitment; otherwise, don’t make it. I personally feel that as a man, if you commit to a woman, even if you get caught up with her boyfriend, you should be loyal to her. Men are usually accused of being very disloyal; I have never been able to understand that, and I don’t agree with it. It disgusts me,” he said.
Dropping the video, the ‘Karz’ actress heaped praise on Abhishek, calling him one of the “nicest men of Bollywood, with good values and innate decency.”
Netizens React
Instagram users did not take kindly to Garewal’s opinion and claimed that the timing of the video was suspicious. One Instagram user wrote, “So a guy you interviewed 20 years ago will be the same? The effort to save his credibility is quite outrageous. “ Another commented, “Time changes, people change. What went wrong, dear Abhishek?” Another user quipped, “Very controversial time to put out this... Not fair, yaa.”
For those unaware, rumors about Abhishek and Nimrat allegedly dating began circulating after a blind item appeared on Reddit, quickly gaining traction online purely as clickbait gossip, despite lacking any evidence or fact-checking. Meanwhile, Aishwarya put an end to the divorce speculations by sharing a photo of Amitabh Bachchan with their daughter, Aaradhya, in celebration of his birthday.
