Ram Navami tribute: PM Modi's aerial video of Ram Setu goes viral

Ram Navami is the day when we celebrate the birth of Lord Ram in Ayodhya . On the pious occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared an aerial video of the legendary Ram Setu , also known as Adam's Bridge, and called it a "divine blessing."

The video was recorded during his return from Sri Lanka and it went viral in no time. The video garnered fresh attention to the ancient bridge that links India and Sri Lanka.

PM Modi ’s flyover coincided with the inauguration of the Pamban Sea Bridge, India’s first sea bridge, which connects Rameswaram to the mainland by rail. This moment reflected the coexistence of India’s spiritual heritage and infrastructural progress.

Ram Setu is every spirituality seeker! It’s a chain of limestone shoals stretching from Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu to Mannar Island in Sri Lanka. Scientists say that it may have been a land connection thousands of years ago, but devotees believe it as the bridge built by Lord Ram and his monkey army to reach Lanka and rescue Sita. It is also mentioned in the Ramayana. The area remains sacred for Hindus, and some even claim to find floating stones.

The bridge finds mention not only in the Ramayana but also in ancient and medieval writings. Arab geographer Ibn Khordadbeh referred to it as "Set Bandhai" or "Bridge of the Sea." Such accounts suggest that knowledge of Ram Setu existed long before modern exploration.

Satellite images captured by NASA and ISRO have shown a distinct formation under the shallow sea, aligning with the path described in the Ramayana. Carbon dating of nearby materials suggests the formation could be around 7,000 years old, fueling ongoing debates over whether the bridge is man-made or a natural geological phenomenon.
