Vaishnaw highlighted two major objectives behind the redevelopment: firstly, the need for a well-equipped and aesthetically designed second entry gate, given the city's expansion on both sides of the station; and secondly, a plan to construct an elevated road to ease passenger access and provide ample parking space in view of the city's growing traffic demands.
The Railway Minister also shared that the station will include a state of art concourse and a roof plaza where passengers can comfortably wait for their trains. During the visit, Jodhpur Divisional Railway Manager Anurag Tripathi presented detailed redevelopment plans to the Minister using maps and other visual aids.
Several senior officials from North Western Railway Headquarters and the Jodhpur Division were also present.During his visit, Vaishnaw highlighted the potential of Bhagat Ki Kothi Railway Station, emphasizing that the upcoming cargo terminal will significantly benefit nearby industrial zones. He noted that Jodhpur, being a key industrial center, will gain improved logistical support for exports, boosting the growth of local industries.
Addressing queries regarding new long-distance trains, Vande Bharat routes, and new railway lines, the Minister said plans are in progress to connect Jodhpur directly with more cities by rail. He acknowledged that several proposals for direct trains to cities such as Secunderabad are under active consideration.
Regarding Vande Bharat trains, Vaishnaw confirmed that these semi-high-speed services will be introduced in a phased manner.
