Actress Surbhi Chandna is a well-known name in the television industry. She is widely recognised for her portrayal of Anika Trivedi Singh Oberoi in the hit serial Ishqbaaaz, where she starred alongside Nakuul Mehta in the lead. Recently, the 35-year-old actress opened up about whether she would ever be a part of shows that feature on the ULLU app, a streaming platform known for adult content.
Appearing on Shardul Pandit's podcast Uncensored with Shardul, Surbhi said, "That is not the genre I would choose to do... or even the platform. Jo shows uss platform par bante hai; usne mein shayad mel hi nahi khati, but log karte hain. It's not about hygiene issues; it's about the content. I just don't resonate with it."
All about House Arrest controversy
Surbhi's remark comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding House Arrest over its sexually explicit content, following a viral clip on social media in which host Ajaz Khan asks contestants to enact sex positions on camera.
On Friday, the National Commission for Women (NCW) issued summons to Ajaz and Vibhu Agarwal, CEO of Ullu App, following the circulation of a disturbing clip from the streaming platform's reality show House Arrest.
Amid the backlash, House Arrest is no more available to stream on the Ullu app.
An FIR was registered against Ajaz and the makers of the show. The official of Amboli police said, "Based on a complaint lodged by Gautam Ravriya, an activist of Bajrang Dal, the police registered a case against actor Ajaz Khan, producer Rajkumar Pandey of 'House Arrest' web show and other persons from Ullu app."
The makers of House Arrest are yet to issue an official statement.
