Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025 raised a total of Rs53.62 crore in charity through its annual marathon event held on January 19. The highest fundraising individuals and organisations for the 20th edition of the marathon event will be felicitated at a grand philanthropy award nite on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Tata Mumbai Marathon will celebrate the champions and heroes who raised money for philanthropy purposes at the vicennial edition of the annual marathon event. The ‘Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025 Philanthropy Awards Nite’ will felicitate individuals, non-governmental organisations, the youngest, the oldest and many other categories of fund raisers.
The 20th edition of Tata Mumbai Marathon raised Rs53.62 crore in charity along with its philanthropy partner United Way Mumbai. Over 270 NGOs working across key social impact areas such as healthcare, education, animal welfare, environment, and women’s empowerment among others, participated in the race to bring the change.
Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care (SRLC), a leg of Gujarat-based Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur, collected Rs10 crore, holding the distinction of being the highest fundraising NGO at the Tata Mumbai Marathon for the 13th consecutive year. Individuals and organisations like SRLC, who raised funds at the marathon event, will be felicitated at the philanthropy awards nite to be held at The Trident Nariman Point on Wednesday at 6pm.
Tata Mumbai Marathon 2025 recorded participation of more than 65,000 runners from India as well as from across the globe. Around 12,167 runners featured in the full marathon cartegory, 14,793 in half-marathon and 8,416 people participated in the 10K run category. In an interesting trend, the marathon's dream run category, which aimed at raising funds for different causes, saw 25,000 participants.
In the last 20 years, this marathon event in Mumbai has now not only become Asia’s biggest marathon but also India’s largest sporting platform for philanthropy. The Free Press Journal had reported about various unique ways adopted by runners in the Dream Run category to raise funds for different causes.
Young volunteers from Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) ran with a pledge to end cervical cancer in India, Nyay Prayas Foundation and Vaastav Foundation ran to spread awareness about men’s rights, whereas 1,500 employees of HDFC Bank participated to support the right to education and raise awareness on prevention of cybercrimes.
