Ideal Diet will be Beneficial for Health: When it comes to keeping the body healthy, our eating habits play an important role in it, while according to Ayurveda, the ancient medical system of India, a balanced diet is extremely important to keep life healthy and balanced.
Food is considered to be the basic element not only for physical but also for mental health. Charaka Samhita states that food is life and an ideal diet provides satisfaction, nutrition, strength, and intelligence. It not only treats diseases but also pays deep attention to lifestyle, diet, routine, and mental behavior. In this, some things and habits are considered to be harmful to the body, hence they are called "Nishedh".
Consuming these things is beneficial for the body.
Charaka Samhita mentions some combinations of foods that have opposite qualities and should not be consumed together. For example, milk and fish should not be consumed together because milk is cold and fish is hot. Food should be eaten slowly and chewed well; eating too quickly does not lead to proper digestion. Food should not be heated again and again. This reduces the nutritional value of the food and can also be harmful to health.
According to Sushruta Samhita, things like overeating, sleeping during the day, staying awake till late night are considered forbidden. This increases phlegm, which causes obesity and allergies. On the other hand, staying awake at night causes problems like fat, mental stress, insomnia and fatigue. One should not sleep immediately after eating, as this weakens the digestive power.
These things have a bad effect on the body.
According to Ayurveda, experiencing negative emotions like anger, anxiety, jealousy, etc. has a bad effect on the body and mind. These spread like poison in the body and help increase Vata-Pitta-Kapha. Sushruta Samhita states that excessive work, lack of sleep, and mental stress should be avoided as these can increase mental and emotional problems.
There are 13 types of natural urges like stool, urine, sneeze, yawn, tears, etc., which are considered prohibited to be stopped. Stopping them can cause serious diseases in the body like headaches, heart disease, skin disease, etc.
