A young girl has tragically has died following a serious crash last night.
Shortly before 6.30pm emergency services were alerted to the collision involving a car and a van on the R240. The emergency services, including multiple ambulances, the fire service and a Coast Guard helicopter, attended the scene of the incident in the townland of Carrowmore, Carndonagh.
The fatal road traffic collision occurred at Carrowmore, Glentogher, Carndonagh, Co Donegalon Wednesday, July 2. The road is a regional road in Ireland, located on the Inishowen Peninsula, County Donegal.

Gardaí have since confirmed that a female passenger, a young child, has sadly died following the collision. She has not yet been formerly identified.
The female driver of the car, a male front seat passenger and a female child who was a rear passenger were all removed from the scene and taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where they all remain in a serious condition.
No other injuries have been reported at this time. The road is currently closed for a technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions in place. The road will remain closed overnight.
An appeal has been issued to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have footage of the incident.
A Garda spokesperson said, “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6.30pm this evening Wednesday 2nd July, 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Buncrana Garda Station at 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
