The Met Office has warned Brits to anticipate flash flooding today after issuing a major new warning.
The agency has issued a massive warning today covering most of the country, including half of Wales, all of northern England and most of Scotland. The alert warns millions of people warned to "consider whether your location is at risk of flash flooding" as the weekend deluge spills into the new week. Forecasters have predicted that "scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms" could tip out more than an inch of rain in just a few hours.

The warning states: "Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected on Monday.

"Rainfall amounts will vary from place to place but in some locations 20 to 40mm (0.7 to 1.5 inches) is possible within a couple of hours.
"Heavy downpours of rain will be the primary hazard, but lightning strikes are also likely along with the potential for hail and gusty winds."
The Met Office alert adds that the "sudden flooding" could cause "difficult driving conditions", leading to road closures across the affected areas, and that some homes could be "flooded quickly".
Damage to buildings could follow, it continues, with some communities even risking becoming "cut off" as flooded roads pool with water.
The agency adds that the potentially extensive flooding could even cause a "danger to life" while the warning lasts.
The warnings will impact every single home nation, including Northern Ireland, into the evening, with some areas seeing continuous rain until Tuesday.
The warning for the Midlands, northern England and Scotland, will commence from 11am today and last for another 10 hours until 9pm.
