But what transpired in the season finale? How have fans responded? Will there be a second season? Here's everything you need to know, but be warned: The information below contains spoilers.
As previously mentioned, the last and 13th episode of High Potential ended on a double cliffhanger. Both involve the overarching narrative that has been a constant throughout the series and the culprit for this week's case, reports .
Olson's character Morgan, who has been assisting the LAPD in solving complex crimes, was confronted with two significant revelations back-to-back in the episode's final moments. Firstly, she realises she is face-to-face with a dangerous serial kidnapper who has been observing her and is clearly indicating that she is his next target.
A series of eerie events unfolds when a pack of children's playing cards is secretly placed in her shopping bags, bearing a sticker with an ominous message hinting at a future encounter.
Morgan receives a phone call from Detective Karadec, revealing that Roman, the father of her eldest daughter who mysteriously vanished years ago, is indeed alive, and he's now uncovered his whereabouts. Previously in the series, Morgan requested that the police reopen the investigation into Roman's disappearance in exchange for her assistance.
The dramatic conclusion sparked a wave of reactions from fans, with one expressing frustration on social media: "Ending the season on not one, but two cliffhangers is just bad manners!"
Another fan eagerly demanded a second season, writing: "I just finished season one of High Potential and it would be criminal to just leave us on that cliffhanger! The characters I want more of, the story has me hooked, and the dynamic of the investigation has me guessing right along with the cast. I NEED a second season!".
A third fan shared their enthusiasm, urging others to watch the show: "I need everyone to watch High Potential because that finale and the first season truly took me out."
Even before the finale, fans were raving about the show, with one declaring, "High Potential is easily the best show of 2025. The other new shows don't even come close. I'm beyond thrilled for Kaitlin Olson, who's finally been given a starring vehicle worthy of her talent."
Will High Potential return for a second season?Fortunately, the show has been renewed for a second season. However, a confirmed release date for its return has not been announced.
The future of the show could hinge on the busy schedule of Kaitlin Olson, who juggles roles in still-running series such as It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Hacks. Nevertheless, there's a wave of optimism among fans for a comeback by next year.

The showrunner, Todd Harthan, has tantalised viewers with snippets about the upcoming plot. Speaking to Screen Rant, he revealed: "I think what you'll learn next year is that his (Roman's) disappearance and where he went and why he ended up there was really, really complicated. And it's not hopefully something that the audience will predict, but it's something we're going to map out."
He confessed his own trepidations: "I will probably get in trouble for saying this, but sometimes I go, "This is a really compelling, interesting way to end a season, and I'm backing myself into a really terrifying story corner that I have to fight my way out of with some other wonderful brains in the writer's room. ""And I love that challenge.
I love that challenge. So, the short answer is I don't really know exactly where we're going to take it next season, and that's terrifying and exciting at the same time, but I would just want to get it right .I want to get it right."
High Potential is streaming on Disney+.
