Jess Glynne 'parts ways with record label' after blow over album sales

Singer has reportedly parted ways with her after just one album. It's been suggested that the collaboration didn't go to plan and the nominee is said to be planning her "next moves" already.

It was announced in 2022 that Jess, now 35, had signed with - which is a brand within . She has since released one album, Jess, but it's now been reported that she has parted ways from the record label.

reports that it comes after the album - which is her third to date - didn't do as well as she had hoped. Unlike her previous albums, which topped the charts in the UK, Jess peaked at Number 6 after its release in April last year.

A source told the outlet: "Jess knows plenty about having ­massive hit singles, so there was a lot of excitement when she signed her deal with EMI Records. But it's not exactly been the fruitful relationship that either had hoped."

The source said that the album "didn't do as well" as they had wanted and noted that none of the singles from it managed to break into the Top 40 on the Official Singles Chart in . The source also suggested that she's had a "tough time reintroducing herself" after some time away.

"Both she and the label decided it was for the best to stop working together," the source said. They added that Jess "isn't letting it dampen her spirits" and teased she's already planning her "next moves" amid working on new music.

Jess first enjoyed success as a featured artist before releasing albums herself. She notably appeared on Clean Bandit's Rather Be and Route 94's My Love, which both topped the charts after being released back in 2014.

The following year, Jess released her debut album, I Cry When I Laugh. It went on to top the Official Albums Chart upon its release in 2015.

That album featured the chart-topping singles Hold My Hand and Don't Be So Hard on Yourself. Other tracks on her first album included Ain't Got Far to Go.

It was followed by her second album, Always In Between, in 2018. She once again topped the album charts with that release.

Her second album featured the singles I'll Be There, which itself reached Number 1, and other song including Thursday, which peaked at Number 3. The tracklist also included All I Am.

More recently, her latest album, Jess - which was her first after signing with EMI - peaked at Number 6 on the Official Album Chart after it was released last year. It featured tracks such as Silly Me and Friend of Mine. The latter, which was the song from the album to chart, reached Number 87 on the Official Singles Chart in November.

As well as her chart success over the decade since her debut in the music industry, Jess has received several awards. In her career to date, she's won and is a BRIT Award nominee.
