Ozzy Osbourne's former guitarist Jake E. Lee has been 'shot multiple times' while walking his dog, according to reports.
Jake's representative has said he was hit "at random" while in Las Vegas. He is now said to be receiving treatment in intensive care. The musician is know for being lead guitarist, having worked with the rock icon for five years. He then moved onto several other bands.
Jake was taking his dog for a walk early in the morning when the 'shooting' took place. The incident is now under police investigation, according to reports. "Lee is fully conscious and doing well in an intensive care unit at a Las Vegas hospital," his representative told .
The guitarist worked with Ozzy from 1982 to 1987, having been drafted in as a replacement for guitarist Randy Rhodes, who tragically died in a plane crash. He then became a member of Badlands, before forming the Red Dragon Cartel in 2013. Fans rushed to share their well-wishes to Jake following the shocking reports. One said: "So sad. Get better soon Mr. Lee!"
Another added: "Get well soon Jake!!" Someone else commented: "Wishing Jake all the best." A fourth wrote: "Prayers to Jake E Lee for a speedy recovery."
Jake was offered an audition to join Ozzy after sending his wife and manager Sharon a photograph and video of himself performing. Band Dokken's guitarist George Lynch had thought he could nab the high-profile job after being called to play at Ozzy's sound checks. However, it ended up going to Jake.
Jake, who was 25 at the time, previously told: "I did feel bad but not as bad as I felt good. And at least I had an early experience of how Ozzy fires people.” He also admitted that he "sobered up" after watching Ozzy and thinking it was "what he could become".
He toured the with Ozzy for five years, but claimed he was fired out of the blue in 1987. It came just hours after he had enjoyed a friendly dinner with icon Sharon and didn't see the news coming. Speaking earlier this year, Jake confessed he hasn't spoken to the famous couple again. However, the musician insisted there is no animosity or insults towards Ozzy and Sharon.
He didn't work for a year after leaving Ozzy, but in the years since Jake performed with metal band Badlands, Wicked Alliance and Bourgeois Pigs. Jake went on to have a successful solo career before going on to form group Red Dragon Cartel alongside Ronnie Mancuso and Darren James Smith. Speaking about his comeback, Jake said to Classic Rock in 2014: "I’m in a good place in my life right now. And yeah, I’m still trying.”
According to Badlands bassist Greg Chaisson, Jake took a break from performing in 2019 due to carpal tunnel syndrome in his right wrist.
