Iconic singer Pilita Corrales has died at the age of 85, her granddaughter has confirmed. The , known as "Asia's Queen of Songs", had a successful career spanning over six decades. During her time in the industry, Pilita recorded over 135 albums.
Taking to to share the sad news, her granddaughter Janine Gutierrez said: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mami and mamita, Pilita Corrales." She shared a black-and-white photo of the star alongside her touching post.
She continued: "Pilita touched the lives of many, not only with her songs but also with her kindness and generosity. She will be remembered for her contributions to the entertainment industry, but most of all for her love of life and family."

Janine ended by asking her followers to "Please join us with your prayers and kind thoughts as we celebrate her beautiful life." She also revealed further details will be released regarding a memorial for her grandmother.
Following the sad news breaking, fans took to social media to share their own touching tributes in memory of the star. One user on /X said: "So sorry to hear about the passing of Pilita Corrales. Her incredible voice and contributions to music will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Queen of Songs."
Another added: "Such a loss. Asia's Queen of Songs will never be forgotten," while a third said: "A legend never really leaves us."
"She was a wonderful person with so much light, love, and energy,” wrote actor Richard Yap, while actress Kristina Concepcion said: "Tita Pilita was so loving, kind, spunky, and just wonderful."
Pilita was known for her powerful voice and her role in putting Filipino music on the international stage. Her her signature on-stage backbend quickly became an iconic move of hers which became synonymous with her name.
Among her many hits included songs such Kapantay ay Langit, A Million Thanks to You, Ang Pag-ibig ay Mahiwaga, and Dahil Sa’yo.
As well as her music career, Pilito also had a presence on the small screen. She became co-host of Philippine TV show, An Evening With Pilita.
Later in her career, she became a mentor to young talents as a judge on shows including Philippine Idol. Her talents also saw her act alongside screen legends, including Fernando Poe Jr. and Dolphy.
Pilita is survived by her two children, actress Jackie Lou Blanco and actor Ramon “Monching” Christopher Gutierrez. Both of her children are respected figures in the entertainment industry.
Her granddaughter, Janine Gutierrez, also continues the family’s showbiz legacy.
