Mark Labbett, who is known for his iconic role as The Beast on ITV ’s The Chase, shows his softer side as it is teased he will find lasting love on the latest series of Celebs Go Dating.

The 60-year-oldappeared on the popular show as a late arrival and has joined other famous faces, including Kerry Katona, Olivia Hawkins, Sam Prince and Donna Preston. While his first date didn’t go too well after appearing to doze off before trying to drink out of a candle instead of his cup, things are set to change.

Dr Tara Suwinyattichaiporn has revealed that the Beast will be “tamed” and that viewers will get to see a “big transformation” from Mark.

She said: “He's supposed to be this intimidating guy on his other show, and they will see him opening up more, they will see him dating in a more active and romantic way.”

She continued and explained to The Sun: “You'll see quite a big transformation. I think it's very lovely to see a representation of an older man going through dating and becoming a little bit sweeter and softer and enjoying the romantic side of dating.”

On Wednesday, 20 August, viewers watched as Mark joined the agency while the rest of the celebrity recruits returned from their trip to Ibiza.

Speaking to the cameras, he revealed that he had been single for just over a year and missed the companionship and joy of being in a relationship.

Kicking off his journey, Mark visited the office for a chat with experts Paul C. Brunson and Dr. Tara, and the conversation quickly turned serious as he said he was “lacking self-confidence”.

When asked what he felt was lacking in his past relationships, Mark admitted: "Probably a degree of self-confidence to say no. I tended to just go with the flow. I’d been single for nearly 20 years, which had its ups and downs. And when you’re weighing 400 pounds, dating isn’t something you do a lot of.'"

Mark joined the E4 agency shortly after Christine McGuinness chose to step away from the process. Throughout the series, viewers had seen her face challenges, and during a recent episode, she opened up to Anna and Paul in an emotional conversation.

She said: "I have been thinking quite a lot while we've been in Ibiza, I need to date in a natural environment. It takes me a long time to sit in front of someone. I've found the outside attention too much and I've found myself finding that I'm hiding more and that's not what I want."
