A woman who ran away from home as a teenager has got engaged to a police officer involved in the search for her after meeting him for the first time more than a decade later.
Roshin Ali fled from her home in Jackson, Tennessee, at the age of 13 as she feared her father would kill her. Cop Tyler Schrupp, who was 26 at the time, was one of the officers assigned to the case and began looking for her.
But the following day, Roshin returned home, meaning the police search ended - and Tyler never met the teen in person. That was until Roshin landed a job at her local sheriff's department 12 years later and they became colleagues.

The woman, who is now 28, said Tyler "wouldn't stop staring" at her "but literally wouldn't say a word at all." The cop revealed he felt "nervous" to talk to her because he "thought she was very beautiful."
The pair then began talking as they immediately felt a connection - and Roshin opened up about the trauma during her youth to Tyler. The police officer said that after his colleague shared details of what had happened, they "started putting the dates together" and he realised he had been involved in the search.
Speaking to the New York Post, Tyler said, "That's when I started to be like, 'Okay, I was a part of that. It's crazy that back then I was looking for you, and now we're sitting here talking.'"
They then fell in love and in August last year, they got engaged. Roshin and Tyler now share a five-month-old son. Back in July, Roshin went viral on social media after sharing a TikTok video based on a trend where couples humorously highlight their lifestyle differences.
In the clip, the pair shake hands and Roshin describes her fiancé as the "officer who went searching for me while missing." After the video went viral online, Roshin hit back at critics who claimed Tyler had groomed her - and she later opened up about her ordeal.
She alleged in a video series that in 2010, her gambling-addict father, who didn't allow his children outside the house, threatened to kill Roshin and her siblings after returning home, having lost all his money, and finding them outside. Roshin claimed that they ran to the bedroom and locked themselves in - but her father managed to enter the room, allegedly grabbing her sister by the hair and dragging her into his bedroom where he beat her with a cable wire.
Roshin claimed that her mother told her and her brother that they would be next - so they jumped out of their bedroom window and ran to the nearest park. Her father then contacted the police to report them missing.
Police then attended the house, where Roshin's sister reported that she was assaulted - and their parents were taken into custody. Roshin and her brother, who was 12 at the time, were found the following day and placed in foster care alongside her two other siblings, aged 15 and 16.
Roshin said, "I truly believe if it was not me running away from the house that day and officers being involved, I don’t think that we’d still be here alive." She also described her husband-to-be as her "hero" and said they will get married next year.
