The southwest monsoon has picked up its pace and has now knocked in most parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rains in many parts of the country including Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh from 22 to 28 June 2025. Due to the activity of monsoon, there is a possibility of rain with strong winds, lightning, and thunder in these states, which will reduce the temperature and provide relief from the heat.
According to the latest report of IMD, cyclonic winds and low-pressure areas have further strengthened the monsoon, the effect of which will be seen in different parts of the country for the next week. Let us take a detailed look at the weather forecast of Delhi, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh, where monsoon has both blessings and challenges…
Extremely heavy rain is expected in MP
The strongest impact of rain in central India will be seen in Madhya Pradesh, where extremely heavy rain (more than 20 cm) is expected at some places in the western parts on June 23 and 24. However, there is a possibility of intermittent heavy to very heavy rains in the entire Madhya Pradesh between June 22 and 26. During this time, strong winds will also blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers along with thunder, which may affect normal life.
Continuous heavy rains are expected in Bihar and Jharkhand from June 22 to 25. Very heavy rainfall may also occur in some areas of Bihar on June 23. Rise in the water level of rivers and local floods cannot be ruled out in these states. There may also be incidents of lightning in some parts of Jharkhand, so the administration has advised the citizens to remain alert.
Alert for West UP
In Uttar Pradesh too, heavy rain warnings have been issued in western districts between 22 and 26 June, especially more intensity can be seen in West UP on 24 and 25 June. Strong winds and lightning are also likely along with rain. The effect of weather can also be seen in the border areas adjoining eastern Rajasthan.
Heavy rains may occur at some places in Delhi and Haryana on 22 and 25 June. During this period, there will be a period of heavy rain with light thunderstorms, which will cause a drop in temperature, but problems like waterlogging and traffic can also come up.
Heavy rains are expected in the areas of Jharkhand and Vidarbha on 25 and 26 June, while very heavy rainfall may occur in the sub-Himalayan parts of Odisha and West Bengal between 24 and 27 June. There is a need to be cautious in these states too given the weather.
Monsoon is in its active phase right now and it is clear from the IMD report that rain will continue in many parts of North India and Central India for the next one week. It is expected from the general public and the local administration that they should take the weather department's alert seriously and adopt necessary safety measures so that any disaster situation can be dealt with.
