Hockey Olympians Mervyn Fernandes, Joaquim Carvalho, and former national badminton champion Sanjay Sharma were also honoured. Shastri could not attend the ceremony, but his mother Lakshmi brought back memories of his playing days. She also mentioned his record of hitting six sixes in an over in a domestic match.

Shastri had hit six sixes in six balls against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy 1984-85 season. Shastri's mother said, "Ravi has given us many golden memories. These include hitting six sixes in an over. I had no idea that he was doing this feat at the Wankhede Stadium. My Bhelpuri wala, who was there, told me." She said, "When Ravi came home, he had to go somewhere immediately. I asked him what happened today, and he said that if you want to know what I did, then listen to it on All India Radio at seven o'clock. I told my husband to come home early. I listened to the radio, where it was said that he has broken Sobers' (Gary) record. The next day, this was written on the banner on Marine Drive."
