The recently launched Citroen Basalt SUV Coupe has achieved a 4 star safety rating in the India New Car Assessment Program (India NCAP) crash test. This safety rating has put it in a strong position in the Indian market in competition with the Tata Curve. Tata cars have always been known for safety, but now with a 4 star rating, Basalt is also claiming better safety.
Crash test information
In the crash test conducted in August 2024, the Citroen Basalt performed strongly for both adult and child occupant protection (AOP and COP). It scored 26.19 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection and 35.90 out of 49 points in child occupant protection. This makes it one of the safest cars in India.
Security tests
In the India NCAP test, the safety features of the Basalt were tested through frontal and side-impact collisions. The SUV scored a full 16 points in the side crash test, indicating a high level of safety for customers.
During the frontal impact test, the Basalt's performance was mixed. While head and neck protection for the driver and front passenger was good, protection for the driver's chest and thighs was marginal. But protection for the front passenger's chest was adequate.
Safety for children
The Basalt performed well in terms of child safety. In the dynamic crash test, it scored 19.90 out of 24 for children. By using a child restraint system for an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child, Citroen proves that it is serious about the safety of young passengers.
Safety Features of Citroen Basalt
Basalt includes several important safety features, such as:
Six airbags: Essential for safety. Electronic stability control (ESC): For better control. ISOFIX child seat anchors: Safe seating for children. Three-point seatbelts: Ensures safety for all occupants.
Due to these safety features and strong steel framework, Basalt has achieved 4 star safety rating in crash test.
Price and competition
The ex-showroom price of Citroen Basalt in India ranges from Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.83 lakh. Its main competition is from Tata Curve, whose ex-showroom price starts from Rs 9.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 19 lakh. In this way, Citroen Basalt has emerged as a strong option in the Indian market with its strong safety rating and impressive features. If you are looking for a safe and stylish SUV, then Basalt can be a great option for you.
