Manish Trehan, the producer of the web series 'Jamtara' based on money fraud, has recently been accused of cheating a businessman of Rs 2.5 crore. However, Manish's team has called these allegations false and baseless.
How did the matter start?
The matter started in the year 2022 when Manish Trehan met businessman Nihar. Manish told Nihar that he is the director of Click On RM Private Limited and asked for a fund of Rs 2 crore for a film project. Manish promised that he would return the money within a year, including interest. Nihar trusted Manish and transferred the money through an online transaction.
What is the whole fraud case?
Nihar, who owns a finance firm, gave Manish a year's time. When the time was over, Manish arrived at Nihar's office with a man. The man introduced himself as Satwant Singh and Manish told him that he was a senior officer of a famous OTT platform. When Nihar asked Manish about the return of the money, Manish said that the film is almost complete and only editing work is left. After this, Manish asked Nihar for another Rs 50 lakh, assuring that the film will soon be sold on the OTT platform.
Next steps and disclosure of fraud
Believing Manish's words, Nihar gave him more money on 5 October 2023. After this, Manish gave Nihar four post-dated checks, which he asked to cash by 31 March 2024. When Nihar tried to cash the checks, all four checks were rejected. The reason was that Manish had put a stop payment order on him. After this, Nihar tried to contact Manish several times, but Manish blocked his number. Troubled, Nihar lodged a complaint with the police.
Manish's team denies
Manish's team has completely rejected the allegations. Nihar's legal team says that Manish and his father had returned a part of the loan. Manish's lawyer accused Nihar and said that this FIR has been filed only because Nihar was making illegal demands.
What will happen next?
The case has created a stir in Bollywood, and it will be interesting to see what happens next. Will Manish Trehan be able to come clean in the case, or will the case land him in legal troubles? This remains a big question for everyone.
