Cuttack: Puri Titans thrashed Cuttack Panthers by 9 wickets in the Odisha Pro T20 League (OPTL) 2025 on Friday.
Chasing 142 for their first win of the league at the Barabati Stadium, Shantanu Mishra and Anurag Sarangi put Puri Titans on the right path with an 86-run opening partnership. Anurag made 31, while Shantanu remained unbeaten on 79 off 60 balls. Skipper Sandeep Pattanaik made an unbeaten 31 off 17 balls, as Puri chased down the target in 17.4 overs.
Earlier, Cuttack Panthers managed a modest 141/7 in 20 overs after opting to bat first. Odisha’s Ranji player Biplab Samantaray top-scored with 33 off 22 balls. Md Danish was Puri’s best bowler, claiming 3/25 in 4 overs to plot the downfall of Cuttack, who had won a nailbiting opener against Bhubaneswar Tigers.
Sambalpur Warriors pip Rourkela Steelers by 1 run
On Thursday evening, Sambalpur Warriors squeezed out a one-run victory against Rourkela Steelers at the Barabati Stadium.
Sambalpur, asked to bat first, put up a decent total of 194/3, thanks to a 120-run partnership for the first wicket between Aditya Rout (68 off 44 balls) and Shreyansh Bhardwaj (52 off 40).
Rourkela Steelers mounted a strong riposte, but fell agonisingly short. Sambit Baral’s stroke-filled 58 off 26 balls and opener Saideep Mohapatra’s 42 off 28 balls proved futile. Sumit Sharma (2/15), Rakesh Pattnaik (2/26), Vimal Kumar (2/26) and Priyanshu Mohanty (2/12) shared the spoils for Sambalpur.
