As the UK finally basks in some sizzling weather, it feels like summer has officially landed. Across the nation, we're soaking up - or preparing to soak up - glorious sunshine, with ice creams and fans becoming essential items.
However, on these scorching days, a shady spot in the garden is a must-have. Many of us relish the chance to sit under a patio umbrella, taking a breather from the intense sun.
One particularly stylish option that's caught our eye hails from Debenhams and even boasts built-in lights for added atmosphere as dusk falls. The Living and Home Double-Top Cantilever Parasol, measuring 2.91m W x 2.91m D, currently has a hefty discount, slashing the price by 53% from £232 to £108.
This product offers customers the opportunity to 'escape the sun in style'. It sports a 'durable' metal frame, while the parasol's octagonal shape is designed to provide maximum shade on hot, sunny days.
For those concerned about the impact of the elements, Debenhams assures that its weather-resistant polyester canopy can withstand all sorts of conditions. It also features a handy crank mechanism and adjustable handle, allowing the angle of shading to be tweaked as needed, ensuring the shade moves with the sun's position throughout the day, reports the Mirror.
In a chic contemporary spin on the traditional parasol, each rib of this dark grey umbrella is fitted with an LED light strip, transforming it into a rather swanky outdoor feature come nightfall. To date, no reviews have been posted, and the only potential hiccup we can foresee is that the product description doesn't clarify how the lights are powered.
Judging by the images, it seems probable they're solar-powered, which naturally implies there must be sufficient sunlight during the day for the lights to function at night. Debenhams isn't the sole retailer offering these types of parasols.
B&Q presents a more affordable alternative with the 3M LED Lighted Large Garden Patio Cantilever Parasol, currently sporting a £21.50 discount, bringing the price down from £99 to £77.50. This model is indeed solar-powered, though it's worth noting it doesn't come with a base and is exclusively available for online purchase, not in-store.
Meanwhile, even cheaper still, The Range's Outdoor Lighted Parasol Garden Cantilever Umbrella also boasts a discount, reducing the price to £50, as opposed to the regular £65.99. It too has a generous 3m diameter, making it apt for most standard-sized outdoor seating areas.
It provides UV 40 protection, though once again, a base will need to be purchased separately. This product does offer a wider range of colour options, with dark grey, beige and light grey on offer.
