Emmerdale fans are predicting a tragic twist with a shock death looming.
The ITV soap, which first aired in 1972, is well-known for its dramatic character exits.
Over its 53-year history, numerous beloved villagers have met their untimely ends, including Val Pollard (Charlie Hardwick), Alice Dingle (Ursula Holden-Gill) and most recently, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).
Now, fans of Emmerdale are convinced another character's demise is imminent as they believe they've deciphered whose grave Cain Dingle visits.
As loyal viewers will remember, the soap featured a flash forward last year showing Cain by an open grave, suggesting a funeral had taken place. Cain is seen in a suit, having attended the service, and shedding tears at the graveside, reports Daily Star.
The identity of the person in the grave remains a mystery, but viewers think they've cracked it following a significant hint in the latest episode.
In Monday's instalment (July 28), following a break-in at Moira Dingle's (Natalie J Robb) barn, Cain is convinced that his nemesis Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is responsible, unaware that one of the culprits was actually Dylan (Fred Kettle).
Cain points the finger at Joe and seeks retribution, but Moira insists on involving the police. Despite an investigation, Joe denies any involvement and there's insufficient evidence to build a case.
Unable to contain her fury, Moira attempts to strike Joe but accidentally hits Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick), before warning him to steer clear of her family.
However, viewers are speculating that Lydia might meet her end due to the unexpected attack, and could be the person Cain is seen visiting in the flashforward.
"So, Lydia has just been hit in the head by Moira and she has blood coming from her ear. Could this be Lydia's exit? Is it her grave Cain was crying at (Lydia being family and Moria being responsible)," one fan speculated on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page. Another concurred: "Yes I think so as well".
A third chimed in: "Agreed, something will definitely happen."
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
