Ex- anchor claimed he was "let down" by his former co-host Susanna Reid following his dramatic exit from the show.
The outspoken broadcaster, 59, made headlines when he abruptly left the ITV programme in March 2021, following a heated debate over Meghan Markle.
Piers later confirmed his departure was due to his refusal to apologise for remarks he made about the Duchess of Sussex.
After Gary Lineker received backing from his colleagues after being sidelined in 2023, Piers expressed his disappointment at not receiving similar support from his GMB team.
When a fan questioned: "Were you disappointed that none of your colleagues didn't present the day after you left GMB?" Piers responded: "Would have been nice to see the same solidarity."
Sources suggest that Piers' tweet was subtly aimed at Susanna, with whom he shared presenting duties. "Piers' tweet was a cheeky dig at Susanna," an insider told OK! magazine at the time.
He believed that not only TV bosses but also his fellow presenters, including Susanna, should have shown more support. The source added: "No one came out and backed him, only his family, no one he worked side by side with. He felt let down."
Susanna, who continues to host GMB, presented the ITV show from Monday to Wednesday with Piers from 2015 until his departure in 2021
Piers' tenure on the show came to a dramatic end when he stormed off the set, resigning after an on-air dispute with meteorologist Alex Beresford concerning Meghan's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Reflecting on her time on screen with Piers, Susanna said in 2022: "We stay in touch and he's a really important person in my life. We had such an amazing time and that was an incredible dynamic."
She added: "He really put his imprint on the programme and it was very powerful." Recalling their earlier days, she noted: "I remember early on, the rows about the role of women and feminism, and those arguments felt like the big issue at the time, and then, of course, we moved on to Brexit and Trump."
The mum-of-three continued: "We went through some really difficult times together as a team and those were very powerful moments. And when it came to the lockdown, the pandemic and holding the government to account, he was just unrivalled at holding their feet to the fire, but then it ended."
She concluded: "All presenting gigs come to an end at some point, don't they? As they will for all of us. He's a friend of mine and that won't change."
