Traffic built up on the on Wednesday afternoon after multiple emergency service vehicles responded to an accident on the major motorway. reported that traffic had been stopped due to a collision and overturned vehicle.
The incident occurred on the southbound between J5 Watford and J4 Edgware, Hertfordshire One witness at the scene posted on X: "Seen 8 ambulances, 6 cop cars & 5 fire engines pass on the hard shoulder and now a helicopter in the sky. Avoid using the M1 into London. Hope everyone is ok #M1 #M1motorway."
