The showdown between Olympic speedster Noah Lyles and gridiron great Tyreek Hill is on the cards, with reports surfacing on Sunday that Terry Crews' co-founded outfit Super Serious has secured nods from both sportsmen for a face-off.
This electrifying sprint will be a highlight of the Duael event series 'Super Serious On Sight' where Olympians clash with professional athletes in a knockout format, Ad Age reveals. FloTrack confirms that while Hill has given a verbal thumbs-up, Lyles is officially on board.
The race promises to end the speculation over who's the swiftest. Last summer saw Lyles and Hill exchange heated remarks, with Hill slamming Lyles for allegedly faking sickness following his bronze medal finish in the 200m at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
After the race, Lyles admitted he had contracted COVID-19, blaming the illness for his performance. On the 'Up and Adams Show' hosted by Kay Adams, Hill was unsparing in his critique of Lyles' excuse.
"Noah Lyles can't say nothing after what just happened to him," Hill asserted. "He wants to come out and pretend that he's sick... Just speaking to what you know about, and that's track."
Hill is bullish about his chances against Lyles, boldly stating: "I would beat Noah Lyles. When I beat him, I'll put on a COVID mask and let him know I mean business."
However, when it comes to sizing up his rival Hill, Lyles jovially remarked: "What's that guy? What's the cheetah guy from football? I can't remember his name."
Despite Tyreek Hill being hailed as one of NFL's fastest with an impressive 100m record of 9.98 seconds, he faces a formidable adversary in Lyles, who secured gold with a scorching time of 9.79 seconds at a Paris meet. Yet, Lyles is infamously known for his lacklustre starts, often having to muster an explosive spurt of speed towards the end to claim victory.
Chiming in with her thoughts on the eagerly anticipated face-off between the two speedsters, which fans have termed a 'super race', Twanisha Terry discussed her predictions on 'The OGs' podcast. As reported by Essentially Sports, she weighed in: "I don't know what Tyreek's start looks like. You can have the best start but Noah closes. He (Hill) is going to get run down in the 100m."
