Noel Fitzpatrick's tragic confession after dog's death as he gives relationship update

Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick has admitted he's not ready to get another dog following the death of his beloved pet border terrier, Keira in 2021. However, alongside not being "ready", he admits his single status is part of the reason. "I have been unable to bring myself to have another dog. Partly because I don't have a partner to walk a dog, so if I'm in surgery for 10 hours, they're going to be crossing their legs. But also I'm not ready," he said.

His single status is also causing issues when it comes to his ambitions to be a father. The 57-year-old Channel 4 star revealed he would like to have children now. He claims he never felt ready for fatherhood in the past but now feels he would "be a good daddy". "I would love to meet somebody between 30 and 40 and have a kid. Or a couple of kids," he intimated.

"I love kids, and I loved doing my book for kids. I think I'd be a good daddy because I've got good morals. I was never properly, emotionally ready, until recently," he told The Times.

Despite his romantic aspirations he conceded he is not easy to date. He explained his passion for his work takes over meaning he is perpetually late for nights out.

While this could be seen as infuriating, he says that the plus side is that you always know where he is. He also claimed he is an all-or-nothing person, so any future partners would know exactly where they stand.

Historically, Noel has tended to keep his private life to himself, but prior to this revelation, he was believed to have been in a long-term relationship with a woman called Michaela, who works at his practice, the Fitzpatrick Referral Centre in Surrey.

As recently as 2020, he was seeing someone, which he confirmed in an interview with The Times. "Yes, I have a girlfriend and I'm fine," he said.

His feelings on children also seem to have changed, as in that chat, he didn't seem as keen on the idea. "As for children, well, my mammy had six and I'd certainly like one, but that requires I make changes. I'm still a work in progress. But you know, do I want to bring a child into this cataclysm?" he asked.

Noel was previously romantically linked to singer-songwriter Cathy Dennis, but they broke up in 2003. She is believed to have written Britney Spears' Toxic and Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out Of My Head about their relationship.

Talking about their romance in his book, Noel said: "Cathy and I remain good friends and I'm sad that I couldn't give her, or anyone else, what is needed in a healthy relationship."
