Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is back with a brand-new series that fans can watch for free. Launching later this month, Pluribus is touted as a genre-bending science-fiction drama, with Gilligan serving as creator, showrunner, writer and director.
The nine-part series marks his first project since Better Call Saul and reunites him with two-time Emmy-nominee Rhea Seehorn, best-known as Kim Wexler in the Breaking Bad spin-off. She fronts Pluribus as Carol, the most miserable person on Earth, who must save the world from happiness.
Plot details for the series had been kept largely under wraps until Entertainment Weekly reported that Carol - a best-selling author of historical romance novels - finds herself immune to a virus that has indoctrinated the world into optimism and content. While in a different direction from Gilligan's previous work, it may feel familiar to Breaking Bad fans as it takes place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, famously the setting for Walter White's criminal exploits.
Alongside Seehorn, Pluribus stars Karolina Wydra (Sneaky Pete) and Carlos-Manuel Vesga (The Hijacking of Flight 601), with guest stars Miriam Shor (American Fiction) and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death). Gilligan fans flocked to the YouTube comments when the first-look trailer dropped last month, with one saying: "Another Vince Gilligan masterpiece incoming."
Another said: "This is some old X-Files Vince Gilligan stuff going on here, I'm excited." Some will take more convincing, as this commenter said: "I'm still not hooked, I'm confused and not in a satisfying way. But as a fan of sci-fi [and] Breaking Bad I trust this will lead to something good."
While this fans said: "Just give me all the Rhea Seehorn you've got and keep it coming." Here's when Pluribus is released and how to watch it for free.
Pluribus will premiere at 8am on Friday, November 7, with the first two episodes. This will be followed by one new episode weekly through to the finale on December 26.
Pluribus will stream exclusively on Apple TV+, with fans able to tune in for free by signing up for a seven-day free trial. After the promotional period, Apple TV+ will renew at the usual £9.99 per month until cancelled.
However, customers can save £30.88 by opting for an Apple TV+ annual subscription at £89, a significant saving compared to the £119.88 cost of 12 individual monthly payments. Apple also offers three months of Apple TV+ for free when buying an eligible device like the iPhone 17 direct from Apple or from retailers including Sky Mobile.
Apple customers should also consider rolling their Apple subscriptions into an Apple One bundle, with the entry-level Apple One Individual plan providing Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade and iCloud+ 50GB for £18.95.
