The BBC has unveiled an electrifying first glimpse at the hotly anticipated second season of its hit new series for 2024, Boarders.
Charting the journey of five Black teenagers awarded scholarships to a prestigious school, the initial six-part run garnered high praise from audiences and critics alike.
The show not only delivered incisive commentary on race, class, and privilege but also captivated viewers with engrossing character arcs and a healthy dose of humour.
After its debut in February this year, the BBC confirmed a sequel in June, with the American service Tubi coming on board as a co-producer.
The teen ensemble featuring Jaheim (Josh Tedeku), Leah (Jodie Campbell), Omar (Myles Kamwendo), Femi (Aruna Jalloh), and Toby (Sekou Diaby) are glimpsed once more alongside their peers and educators in this fresh teaser, reports .
In the upcoming season, student unrest triggers a crisis that sees headmaster Bernard (Derek Riddell) suspended.
New challenges arise as Carol Watlington-Geese (Niky Wardley) assumes control of the institution, determined to expel the new boarders.
Daniel Lawrence Taylor, the mastermind behind Boarders, shared his enthusiasm for the forthcoming season following the phenomenal success of the first, which included snagging the illustrious 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
"Bringing the new season of Boarders to life has been an incredible experience, especially with the exciting addition of new faces to the cast," he enthused.
"Watching the actors effortlessly return to their roles, as if they had never left, has been an absolute joy.
"We hope you enjoy this second helping of the series as much as we've enjoyed creating it!"
Producer Madeleine Sinclair expressed her excitement about the cast: "We're so thrilled with our cast for series two of Boarders, both the wonderful returning characters and the exciting new faces viewers are in for a real treat."
She also praised the quality of the writing and the performance of the cast: "Daniel's scripts are once again as funny as they are thought-provoking and our talented cast come together to bring them to life perfectly."
Boarders season 2 will premiere in 2025 on BBC Three. Season 1 is available on BBC iPlayer.
