Trogir in has been described by as an "excellent example of a medieval town" that has remained well preserved for centuries. It was built on the foundations of a and and later became part of the Venetian Empire. The town sits on a small island near the city of Split, connected by bridges to both the mainland and iovo Island. Its old town, full of narrow stone streets, churches, palaces and towers, was declared a in 1997.

Travel experts at say many tourists visit Trogir as a short trip from Split and are surprised it isn't more famous.
"How is it possible that such beauty isn't promoted alongside Dubrovnik and Plitvice Lakes?" they wrote.

Trogir's most famous landmark is the Cathedral of St Lawrence, which dates back to the 13th century.
Visitors can also explore the Kamerlengo Fortress, the 15th-century Cipiko Palaces, and the town's ancient city gates and loggia.
The town has a population of just over 10,000 and has a peaceful atmosphere, with cafes, museums, and seaside views.
There are also regular ferries to nearby islands during the summer.
According to , getting to Trogir is easy. The town is only 3km (1.8 miles) from Split Airport, with direct bus and taxi options available.
Local bus line 37 takes around 10 minutes from the airport to the centre.
