Cyprus has an average temperature of around 26C in October during the day, and the sea temperature is also still warm, averaging 24C, which makes it the perfect Mediterrean destination to visit during the autumn and winter months.
In particular Paphos is a fantastic destination with history, great dining and beautiful scenery, as well as gorgeous beaches with turquoise waters.
Paphos is a great option for those looking for a winter sun escape, and the best part is that after the busy summer, October and November are the most pleasant months to enjoy the island without the crowds.
Besides the beautiful beaches, tourists can also explore the famous Roman ruins, such as the houses of Dionysus, Orpheus and Aion, and visit the picturesque Old Town.
According to travel experts at , one of the most beautiful spots near Paphos is the Blue Lagoon, "a vast pool of teal water that is calm and clear". The blue lagoon can only be reached by boat, "which helps to keep away the masses".
Another great beach in Cyprus is Petra tou Romiou, known as Aphrodite's Rock, also near Paphos, famous for being the birthplace of Aphrodite.
The travel experts explained: "According to legend, the Greek goddess of love and beauty rose from the sea and came ashore here. It's believed if you swim around the rock three times, you'll be blessed by eternal beauty - although the turbulent sea prohibits this. The pebbly beach overlooks the picturesque stack jutting out of the Mediterranean; best appreciated at sunset. The views are great from the café here too."
Visitors described the place on Google reviews as a "must-see if you're in Cyprus". One holidaymakers explained: "Such a beautiful place no matter what time of the year you visit it. It's a great place to relax, take some pictures and enjoy the magnificent scenery."
Another one said: "This was an absolute majestic place. The weather was amazing and the water was crystal clear. The white sand was amazing to top it all off."
A third one added: "Absolutely amazing. One of the best spots I've been to in my life. Must go!"
According to , those who visit Cyprus can expect "sandy beaches, and crystal-clear water the colour of a Caribbean lagoon".
