Going can be pretty stressful in getting from A to B and one couple found out the hard way after they flew from Malta to London with . The anonymous couple shared their story on social platform Reddit.
In a post titled: 'Ryan Air Nonsense' the user hit out at the low-budget airline over a simple mishap.
The post claimed: "Hello all. Excuse if this comes off like I'm seething but I am, currently, seething.
"At airport and attempt to check in for our flight back to . Employee coyly writes on a bit of paper and sends us to another desk.
"Now; this bit is important - by the time we've walked across the hall to the other desk and cued for two mins... it has put us over the threshold for 'checking in two hours before take-off'
"They then proceed to tell us that we have to pay €110 for the pleasure of 'checking in late'. We tried to be calm, they gave us a number to call - that number was Ryan Air and all I got was 'sorry this happened. But there are other people in the queue so you have to pay'
"The woman behind the desk didn't offer any help, no superiors available. Nothing. €110 (£90) down because of a two-minute threshold which was not our fault and is a bureaucratic nonsense. We were not checking in 10 mins before our flight... it was two hours before. Be wary of these snakes.
"I want to complain but feel like it will be similar to getting blood out of a stone?"
People took to the post to share their advice, with one person commenting: "Yes this is how they make money. Similar experience with Ryanair on check-in..."
Another said: "Wtf that is so s*****, I would complain if I were you. I will be flying with them for the first time in a few days."
To which the user who created the thread replied: "CHECK.IN.ASAP"
A third added: "They don't give a crap. honest feedback, they take your money and make it hard to get it back no matter what" to which the user replied: "It's genuinely horrific."
Another traveller had a similar experience and said: "Feel your pain. Flew with RA recently. Had to make changes twice, no problem. But had to pay for luggage two more times. Because the app won't advance to the next screen without paying for bags.
"No way around it. Even the RA at check-in stated we paid for six bags when we only had two. I asked to get a refund and her tone changed immediately, sorry no refunds. Call RA. Ryan Air's policies and customer service are criminal. I don't know how they get away with how they operate."
According to the Ryanair website, it reads: "You must check in online at www.ryanair.com and print or download your boarding pass unless you have a Flexi Plus ticket, in which case you can check in at the airport for free. Online check-in opens 60 days before the scheduled departure time if you have purchased an allocated seat."
