Karnataka High Court Grants Interim Bail To Darshan For Six Weeks On Health Grounds

In a huge sigh of relief to Kannada star Darshan Thoogudeepa and one of the prime accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, the Karnataka High Court has granted interim bail to the actor for a period of six weeks on Wednesday.

In custody for 142 daysWith the Karnataka High Court granting him interim bail for health reasons, actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is set to walk out of the custody since his arrest on June 11, 2024, in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.The court while granting bail has directed that a health report be submitted to the concerned in one week and to surrender his passport.The actor, who has been suffering from back pain due to issues with his L5 S1 joints and had sought for interim bail on the grounds seeking treatment in a private hospitalSenior counsel, C V Nagesh, appearing for Darshan before the High Court while seeking bail cited actor's health concerns, noting his client suffers from numbness in both feet and requires surgery. Renukaswamy murder caseActor Darshan has been in custody since June 11, following allegations that he was involved in the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy.The case centers around claims that Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, sent inappropriate messages to Pavithra Gowda, Darshan’s friend and a co-accused in the case.The prosecution alleges Darshan and others conspired in Renukaswamy’s murder, with evidence suggesting his body was found near a stormwater drain in Sumanahalli.
