Guwahati: Major General Sarabjit Singh Bakshi, SM, Additional Director General of Strategic Movement (ADG SM), Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), visited the North East Frontier (NF) Railway Headquarters. During his visit, he met with Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NF Railway, to review ongoing railway projects critical to the movement and deployment of troops in the North East sector. This visit emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in enhancing the operational readiness of the armed forces in this strategically significant region.As part of the interaction, Major General Bakshi was briefed by Colonel Rissi Mohun Negi, Group Commander of the 22 Movement Control Group, and Colonel GS Bajwa, Group Commander of the 148 Movement Control Group. Both commanders presented updates on the logistical aspects of troop and equipment movement and provided insights into the operational impact of current railway developments in the sector. The briefing also covered the progress of ongoing rail projects, underscoring how these efforts contribute to strategic mobilization.Major General Bakshi also paid a courtesy call on Major General RD Sharma, GOC of 51 Sub Area, at Narangi Military Cantonment, where he provided updates on recent initiatives by the Directorate General of Operations Logistics & Strategic Movement (DG OL & SM) aimed at enhancing troop mobility. Following the discussions, Major General Bakshi inspected the 240 Transit Camp and 166 MC/MF Det (Movement Control/Military Freight Detachment) to assess their operational readiness and ensure they meet the demands of military logistics.This visit underscores the ongoing collaboration between Indian Railways and the Indian Army in strengthening infrastructure to meet the defense needs of the North Eastern region, enabling swift and efficient troop deployments.
