The South Africa women's cricket team created history in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup by ending Australia's dominance in the tournament to reach the final for a second consecutive time and avenge their defeat in the 2023 final.Australia had won each of the the last three edition and today's result means that for the first time since 2016 when West Indies lifted the trophy that the Southern Stars will not be crowned champions. The 2024 edition will be the first time since the inaugural event in 2009 that Australia will not play the final. The Australian team have featured in every final between 2010 and 2023 and won six of them.For only the third time in nine editions, a non-Australian team will win the event. The Proteas will eye a first-ever title after losing last year's final in Cape Town; they will face the winner of the West Indies-New Zealand clash tomorrow in Sharjah. The West Indies will look to win a second title, while the White Ferns will aim for a maiden title. New Zealand lost the final in 2009 and 2010.

South Africa vs Australia Women's T20 WC 2024 - How The Match Unfolded Talking about the match after South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first, the six-time champions posted a total of 134 on the board. Beth Mooney top-scored with a 42-ball 44. Ellyse Perry provided a later flouriush with a knock of 31 in 23 balls. In reply, Aneeke Bosch registered an unbeaten knock of 74 in 48 balls and took the game away from the holders. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt made a solid knock of 42 in 37 balls. South Africa won the match by eight wickets with 16 balls to spare. The final between South Africa and either West Indies/New Zealand will take place on Sunday (October 20) in Dubai.
