New Delhi: Tata Motors CRVV and Curvv EV have secured a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP) test. Both SUVs were tested separately and achieved good scores for adult and child protection. The Curvv scored 29.5 out of 32 in adult protection and 43.66 out of 49 in child protection. Meanwhile, the Curvv EV scored 30.81 out of 32 in adult protection and 44.83 out of 49 in child protection. The Curvv ICE, diesel Accomplished + A variant was tested, while the Curvv EV tested the Empowered + A variant with the 55 kWh battery.According to BNCAP, the Tata Curvv achieved scores of 14.65 out of 16 in the Frobtal Offset deformable Barrier Testand 14.85 out of 16 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrer Test. The results show that the front passengers are mostly safe but the driver’s right leg receives marginal protection. Whereas, the child protection crash test, the Tata Curvv scored 9 out 13 points in the vehicle assessment category, along with 22.66 out of 24 in the dynamic score and a perfect 12 out of 12 in the CRS installations score. On the other hand, the Tata Curvv EV scored 15.66 out of 16.00 in the Frontal Offset Deformable Barrier Test and 15.15 out of 16.00 in the Side Movable Deformable Barrier Test. The test described that all the front passengers received either 'good' or 'adequate' protection in the event of a crash, a notable improvement over the Curvv.In terms of child protection, the Curvv EV score of 23.88 out of 24 and 12 out of 12 for CRS installation, along with a score of 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment category.For safety features, the Tata Curvv comes equipped with six airbags as standard, along with electronic stability control and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Higher trim levels also offer a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, all-disc brakes, and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.Meanwhile, the Tata Curvv EV includes six airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill-start and descent assist, ESP, a driver drowsiness alert system, a blind spot monitor, and Level 2 ADAS features. Notably, the Curvv EV also features an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), which produces sound alerts when traveling under 20 km/h.
