Fire Service Memorial Day observed at 9 fire stns in Prayagraj dist

Prayagraj: Officials of the Prayagraj Police Commissionerate fire department on Monday observed ‘Agnishaman Seva Smriti Diwas', (Fire Service Memorial Day) to commemorate the 66 firemen who died while extinguishing a fire on a cargo ship at the Mumbai port in 1944.

The day (April 14) was observed at all nine fire stations of the district, including Naini, Meja, Bara, Koraon, Handia, Phulpur, Soroan, and the High Court Fire Station, to honour their sacrifice and dedication.

Chief Fire Officer (Prayagraj) RK Pandey said, "Fire Service Memorial Day was observed at Civil Lines fire station, and staff of the fire department paid honour to fallen firefighters."

The officials and staff also observed two minutes of silence. The Prayagraj fire department also dispatched firefighting vehicles across the districts to promote awareness among the masses. Tributes were paid to the firefighters, and day was also observed to raise awareness about fire safety and prevention. Rallies were also organised on the occasion.
