CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday appointed D John Thangam as the interim in-charge of the party's Kanyakumari East district unit.
This action follows the removal of former minister and AIADMK organisation secretary N Thalavai Sundaram from the post of district secretary. Sundaram was removed after he flagged off an RSS march in his constituency, prompting Palaniswami to state that an inquiry would be conducted.
Thangam is currently secretary of AIADMK’s Kanyakumari West district unit.
Meanwhile, the AIADMK headquarters has announced that a public meeting scheduled for Oct 17 in Kancheepuram has been postponed due to rain. The meeting was intended to mark the occasion of the party's founding day.
